Introduction

Memorization makes you smarter – have you heard that? How important is memorization? Our brains can help us remember things, but like a muscle, we must use them to do that. Memorization trains our brains to remember things. Yes! Being able to memorize is still a valuable skill. In this article I use music to increase the likelihood that you (and I) can memorize words and recall them when needed.

Memorization challenges our brains

I’ve heard people say they can’t memorize. But I think it’s more a matter of finding the right tool to help. Over the years I’ve used music to help me. It’s amazing that a simple tune can stimulate the brain to help me remember things. I’ve included a video of a song I wrote to help me remember some words that have meant a lot to me in my life. I wanted to remember them so they could shape my thinking about life and the people I know.

An experiment – memorization makes you smarter

I have a little experiment you can help me with. When you’re done I’d love to read any comments you have about what I’ve asked you to do. So, here it is:

Learn two verses with a song: easier than you think… Try it!

So what do you think? Is it doable? What other things can music help you learn? I’d love for you to comment. This is an amazing way to impede the decay of mental acuity. Memorization makes you smarter.
